About Passaic NJ
Passaic is a city in Passaic County, New Jersey. As of the 2024 census, its population was estimated to be around 70,722 people. It was originally a Dutch settlement on the Passaic River known as Acquackanonk Township. It went from an unincorporated village to an independent village and then finally a city in 1873. The name Passaic comes from the Lenape word “pahsayek” which translates to “valley” or “place where the land splits”. Passaic is bordered by the Passaic County municipality of Clifton to its north, south and west, the eastern border being the Passaic River.
