About Cedar Grove NJ
Bloomfield is a township in north central Essex County, NJ. As of the 2020 census, the population was approximately 13,000. This area, now named Cedar Grove, was originally incorporated as Verona Township in 1892 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. In 1908, the name was officially changed to Cedar Grove. The name is due to the proliferation of the Eastern Red Cedar trees that cover its hills and valleys. The township is bordered by the Essex County municipalities of Montclair, North Caldwell, and Verona.
